Infected: Procedural Level Generator

Last time we checked in, INFECTED only had one combat room. This time, though, the parasite introduces an entirely new area for players to explore.
I’ve implemented a procedural level generator that creates a different layout every time you jump in. All the rooms are interconnected through doors, and the generator decides how they branch out, ensuring each playthrough feels fresh. Some runs might offer a straightforward path, while others could have you navigating twisting corridors that lead you to new arenas.
To keep things organized, there's a door placement system that prevents the connections from becoming a chaotic jumble. The layouts are crafted to mirror a real environment—structured enough to understand, yet unpredictable enough to keep you engaged. Each session feels new and exciting, but you won't feel completely lost in the chaos.
Here’s how these updates are shifting the gameplay:
- Now, each run has a unique feel, trading monotony for a mix of experiences.
- Branching paths create new combat situations, encouraging you to adapt to different scenarios.
- We’re laying the groundwork for future biome-specific areas—like labs, quarantine zones, and prison cells—each featuring its own unique twists and challenges.
The core mechanics of the parasite still drive the action: possession, limb damage, and body decay. But now, these elements play out on a dynamic, ever-evolving map rather than a single, static space. It’s a subtle yet impactful change that makes INFECTED feel vibrant, unpredictable, and definitely worth replaying.
